On Sunday, July 16, 2023, L’Union Cycliste des Seychelles celebrated a significant milestone as they hosted their 20th race, a 62.4 km Roadrace. The event brought together passionate cyclists from across the region to compete in this thrilling race.

The race showcased the incredible talent and determination of the participants, with each cyclist pushing themselves to the limit to secure victory. It was an intense battle, with the challenging route adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

In the senior category, Jeanyev Souyav from the North Coast Rider emerged as the ultimate champion, completing the race with an impressive time of 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 48 seconds. Jayden Sinon from Velo Club des l’Ouest showcased exceptional skills, securing the second position in the junior category with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 2 seconds. Bertrand Lesperans, also from the North Coast Rider, claimed the third spot in the senior category, finishing the race in 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 2 seconds.

The team results were equally exciting, with the North Coast Rider team dominating the competition and securing the first position with a cumulative time of 8 hours and 18 minutes. The OMCC team displayed remarkable teamwork and determination, earning them the second position with a cumulative time of 8 hours, 21 minutes, and 49 seconds.

The race route was carefully designed to challenge the cyclists while treating them to breathtaking views of Seychelles’ picturesque landscapes. Starting at Roche Caiman, the riders embarked on a journey through stunning locations such as Mont Baie Lazare, Les Canelles, Takamaka, Anse Royale, and Les Canelles, offering them a glimpse of the island’s natural beauty.

The race continued towards Anse Boileau before making a return journey through Mt. Posee, concluding back at Roche Caiman. The diverse terrain tested the cyclists’ skills and endurance, making the race an exhilarating experience for both riders and spectators.

L’Union Cycliste des Seychelles can be proud of their successful 20th road race, which showcased the passion and talent of the participating cyclists.
