From Providence to Glacis and Back – A Battle of Speed and Endurance

As the early morning sun painted the Seychelles sky in hues of gold and blue, cyclists from across the islands lined up at Providence, their eyes set on the grueling 57.8km journey ahead. This wasn’t just any Sunday ride—this was Road Race No. 4, where endurance, strategy, and sheer determination would decide the champions.

The air buzzed with anticipation as riders clipped into their pedals. At exactly 7:00 AM, the race was on.

The Route: A Test of True Grit

From the Providence U-turn, the pack surged forward, heading towards the Airport Roundabout, wheels humming in unison. The route snaked through North Anse Etoile and North East Point, where the salty breeze met the sweat of the riders pushing their limits.

As they approached Glacis, the peloton split—some conserving energy, others making their move. The Savoy U-turn was the moment of truth. Those who had held back now unleashed their strength, shifting gears for the return through Perseverance and back to Providence.

The sprint to the finish line was nothing short of electrifying. Legs burned, lungs gasped for air, and the crowd roared as the final push decided the victors.

The Champions: Who Conquered the Road?

? Jayden Sinon (VCDL U23) delivered a masterclass in power and pacing, clinching first place in 1:32:23, with an average speed of 37.5 km/h.
? Deveon Orredy (VCDL ACC U18) was just one second behind, proving that every pedal stroke counts.
? Jeff Esparon (OMCC Senior) fought his way onto the podium, matching Orredy’s time but narrowly missing out on silver.

The race wasn’t just about individual glory—VCDL ACC and OMCC dominated the team leaderboard, both clocking a combined time of 4:41:44, showcasing the depth of talent in Seychelles cycling.
